Add another connection path
A satellite link can diversify your access options. It does not provide automatic failover just because a second terminal is switched on.
Support a mobile operation
Check the exact land, international or marine permissions. The least expensive personal plan is not automatically the right business service.
Write down your essential applications, typical and peak data use, upload needs, locations and acceptable interruption. Include VPN, remote access and any equipment that expects a particular network configuration.
UNDERSTAND THE SERVICE
Priority is a plan choice—not a guarantee of uninterrupted work.
Starlink advertises Priority plans with network precedence, prioritised support, a publicly routable IPv4 address and a service-level agreement. Confirm the implementation and eligibility for your exact kit and service. An SLA has conditions and remedies; it is not a promise that your entire business network will never fail.
LOCAL PRIORITY
Land-based work.
AU public pricing currently lists 50 GB at A$84/month and 500 GB at A$236/month. Choose around measured use and permitted operating locations, not just the entry price.
GLOBAL PRIORITY
Different operating needs.
Designed around global and maritime requirements; the AU page lists 50 GB at A$395/month. Do not substitute it for a site-specific assessment of permissions and equipment.

What happens when Priority data runs out?
The current AU plan page lists ongoing service at up to 1 Mbps download and 0.5 Mbps upload beyond the Priority allowance. That can be a major change for a working team. Review data blocks, top-ups and spending controls with the provider before relying on the plan.
MAKE THE BACKUP REAL
Test the weak points before a busy day.
Keep the whole connection powered.
Terminal, router and other network equipment all need power. A battery or UPS must be sized and tested for the required load and duration; no kit should be assumed to include backup power.
Configure the changeover.
Have a competent network provider assess routing, failover and restoration. A second internet service alone does not switch applications automatically.
Exercise the actual work.
Test calls, VPN, cloud tools and other essential services while the primary link is unavailable. Record any sessions that drop or need restarting.
Assign a recovery owner.
Keep support access, equipment details and a clear escalation path available. Decide who monitors usage and who can change the service.
