QUESTIONS WORTH ANSWERING
What happens if it drops? Identify which tasks need a backup, separate power and tested failover.
What does the plan actually promise? Check Priority data, support, SLA scope and exclusions—not just a speed headline.
Where will it operate? Fixed sites, moving vehicles, maritime and aviation have different requirements.
What changes with business service?
Starlink advertises Priority data, prioritized support, a publicly routable IPv4 address and an SLA. Its Performance kit is designed for demanding environments. These features do not guarantee uninterrupted service or automatically make a backup system work.
Business service is currently advertised from A$84/month. Hardware, data blocks and sector-specific services can change the total substantially. Confirm the exact proposal with Starlink.

Dimensions, power and source detail
Manufacturer average power: Standard 75–100 W; Mini 25–40 W. These are planning ranges, not guaranteed consumption. Accessories, voltage and usable battery energy matter for portable use.
Use Starlink’s app to check obstructions at the actual dish position. Trees, buildings and terrain can interrupt service.

Check suitable power, safe mounting, cable routing and Wi-Fi coverage. A clear dish position isn’t always next to your desk.

Performance varies. Compare your alternatives, plan limits and total cost. Keep a separate emergency communication plan.
Is Starlink automatically better than nbn or mobile?
No. Compare what is actually available at your address and how it performs for your tasks. nbn Fixed Wireless uses terrestrial towers; Sky Muster is satellite. They are not interchangeable labels. A good existing fibre, wireless or mobile service may already be the better fit.
Those are plan, equipment and location questions. Residential is for a fixed location. Roam offers travel flexibility, but in-motion, international and water use have specific rules. Standby has a fee and billing increments. Check current permissions before relying on it; a portable kit alone does not grant them.
What if I’m already a Starlink customer?
You can still explore plans and guides. The new-customer referral credit does not apply to existing or returning customers. For billing, faults and account changes, go to the provider’s current support resources.

Hardware, ongoing costs and the small print
The AU Roam page advertises hardware from A$289 in selected areas; Residential advertises no upfront hardware cost in selected areas. Neither establishes your exact kit price, ownership terms, shipping or installed total.
The Residential 100/200 critical summary lists minimum totals that do not reconcile with its stated hardware and monthly charges. Resolve any offer/summary difference with Starlink before paying. We have not completed your checkout or assumed unknown charges are zero.
Check all paid months, Standby fees where relevant, required accessories and installation. Do not deduct an unconfirmed referral credit from your budget.
